Terms of Service
1. The service
SBS Weather is a paid subscription that delivers weather information to your mobile phone by text message (SMS/MMS): daily forecast cards and radar video clips for your ZIP code, an optional severe-weather alert service, and an optional daily farm market report ("SBS Markets"). The service is delivered entirely by text message — receiving text messages is inherent to the service you are purchasing. Message frequency is up to about 3 scheduled messages per day plus any messages you request; we do not send scheduled messages on Sundays (life-safety weather alerts excepted). Message and data rates from your carrier may apply.
2. Signing up, and signing up someone else
You can subscribe by texting us, or by phone. An account holder may purchase the service for another recipient (for example, a family member) only with that recipient's consent. Every new recipient receives a welcome text with opt-out instructions before regular service begins, and any recipient may stop the messages at any time by replying STOP, regardless of who pays for the subscription.
3. Billing and cancellation
Plans are billed monthly or annually, by card, by check or money order, or by group invoice. You may cancel at any time by phone or by mail. Replying STOP stops all messages immediately; please also contact us to cancel billing. Refunds for the unused portion of an annual plan are handled on request. Prices are stated at sign-up; we will notify you by text before any price change takes effect.
4. Weather information — important limitations
SBS Weather is not a substitute for official warning channels. Our forecasts, radar clips, and alerts are based on public data from the National Weather Service and NOAA. Text messages can be delayed, undelivered, or interrupted by carrier networks, coverage, phone status, or system outages beyond our control. For life-safety decisions, always rely on official channels — NOAA Weather Radio, Wireless Emergency Alerts, and local warning systems — in addition to our service.
Weather is inherently uncertain. Forecasts are predictions, not guarantees, and we are not liable for losses, including crop, livestock, property, or business losses, resulting from reliance on forecast information or from delayed or undelivered messages.
5. Market information
SBS Markets reports factual price information from public sources (USDA Market News and participating local auctions and elevators). It is informational only and is not marketing, trading, investment, or agronomic advice. We do not guarantee the accuracy or timeliness of source data and are not liable for decisions made in reliance on it.
6. Fair use
The service is for the personal or farm/business use of the subscribing household or business. On-demand requests (such as texting RADAR) are subject to reasonable daily limits. Reselling or republishing the service's content streams without our written permission is not permitted.
7. Changes and termination
We may improve or change the service's content and features over time, and may suspend or terminate service for non-payment or abuse. If we discontinue the service entirely, unused prepaid amounts will be refunded.
8. General
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remainder stands. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement for the service.
